Today we had the pleasure of chopping it up with southern wordsmith and Indie Hip Hop artist, Mack Warbuckz! We peeped his style and the kid is definitely saying something. We asked him a couple of questions, see what he has to say!

- Welcome to #HHE Mack Warbuckz! Lets start by telling these HipHop heads where you from and what’s the squad you repping?

Atlanta,Southwest Atlanta to be exact. 82 K.I.N.G.S. is the team I represent.

- What’s the project the team is pushing right now? Who produced/directed it and where can the WARBUCKZ fans can find it?

- How did this journey into Hip Hop start? Who’s your major influencer? Let us know how, what and where did it all start for you as an independent Hip Hop artist.

Hip Hop has always had a strong presence in my life, people around me always were engaged in it in some capacity,from DJing, to break dancing, to MCing, I became engulfed in the culture early. I have had many influences but by far Nas had the biggest influence over me.I started rhyming on and off in middle school, I started recording in 2010 as a student here in Atlanta, at Georgia State University. I was blessed with an opportunity to perfom at SXSW in Austin ,Texas a year ago, since then I've been grinding non-stop .

- I respect that. What’s the illest line in Hip Hop in your opinion?

- S/o to Nas. We know it isn’t easy to keep pushing as an independent artist. What keeps you motivated?

[Warbuckz]

There is a saying that an artist is a teller of the time in which they live. The idea that I can use my lyrics to narrate the experiences of a generation keep me motivated because I know I serve as a voice for my people. I have a passion for writing and the ability to express my thoughts and give life to my ideas keep me going despite the strenuous grind of being independent.

- Really digging your perspective. How does Mack Warbuckz come up with these flows, lines and records. What’s your music making process? Drink in hand? Party flow or solo? Give us some insight on your methodology.

As far as flows, the beat dictates that, the tempo and energy of the beat influence the flow and at times the lyrical content. When the urge to write hits me I go to the lab and create, I like to isolate myself and focus. I don't really have any rituals or specific method to my writing process, it's usually really random.
